BB&T cuts 56 jobs at West Virginia processing center

BB&T Corp. is cutting 56 jobs at a West Virginia service center, part of a plan to streamline back-office operations. BB&T acquired the center, which handles the processing of loans, credit cards and mortgages, through its purchase of One Valley Bancorp in 2000. Winston-Salem-based BB&T says the job cuts are related to increased demand for digital services.
