BofA lays off tech, mortgage workers

Bank of America Corp. is cutting an undisclosed number of technology and mortgage workers in Charlotte and elsewhere. The tech layoffs affect the bank’s global technology and operations unit, while the mortgage-related cuts will occur strictly at the bank’s Charlotte operations. BofA, in an effort to improve efficiencies, has reduced its total employment by more than 70,000 since CEO Brian Moynihan took over in 2010. The bank employs more than 15,000 in Charlotte.
