BofA sues federal government for $199.8M

Bank of America Corp. has sued the U.S. government for $199.8 million, the amount the bank says it is owed on interest paid to the Internal Revenue Service. Charlotte-based BofA contends in its suit that the IRS erred on how it calculated interest on federal income tax overpayments and underpayments. The complaint covers remittances made by predecessors and companies acquired by BofA, including Merrill Lynch and FleetBoston Financial.
