Charlotte approves massive mixed-use redevelopment project

Charlotte City Council on Monday unanimously approved the city’s largest redevelopment project in years, paving the way for a massive mixed-use project on a former industrial site north of uptown. The project, called Camp North End, will feature 1,500 apartments, 1.5 million square feet of office space, 300 hotel rooms, shops, restaurants and light industry. New York-based real estate company ATCO has spent nearly $15.7 million acquiring the 76-acre site between Statesville Avenue and North Graham Street.
