Cree, Infineon terminate $850M Wolfspeed deal

Durham-based Cree Inc. has terminated plans to sell its Wolfspeed division to German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies, citing national security concerns from U.S. regulators who were concerned about the potential transfer of sensitive technology. The proposed sale was valued at $850 million. As part of the deal termination, Infineon will have to pay a $12.5 million fee to Cree.
