N.C. files suit against Chemours over GenX

North Carolina has filed a lawsuit against The Chemours Co., the company linked to the dumping of chemical compound GenX into the Cape Fear River. The suit alleges that Chemours violated the state’s water and air resource laws, and regulators are threatening to pull the company’s wastewater permit. In addition, the state says plant operators misled environmental officials about the chemicals discharged into the river. The news comes days after the N.C. General Assembly passed a bill providing $435,000 for water treatment and testing.
