NCDOT plans rail improvements between Charlotte and Wilmington

The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to make track and signal repairs along nearly 7 miles of CSX rail lines in Scotland and Bladen counties. The stretch is part of a busy freight line between Wilmington and Charlotte. The project, which comes as CSX plans to build a $272 million intermodal terminal in Rocky Mount, will largely be paid for through $11.1 million in federal grants and $2.8 million in state transportation funds.
