Parker Hannifin to lay off 220 in eastern N.C.

An Ohio company that builds motion and control technologies plans to close its plant in Washington, N.C., laying off 220 workers. Parker Hannifin Corp. has notified state officials that the job cuts will begin in early September. The 175,000-square-foot plant, which is in the eastern part of North Carolina, makes fuel products for transportation and off-highway markets.
