Pfizer to invest $100M in Sanford plant, add 40 jobs

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. will invest $100 million in a life science research and manufacturing plant in Sanford, a move that will create 40 jobs with an average annual salary of $90,000. Construction is scheduled to begin early next year on the facility, which will focus on gene therapy. The Lee County Board of Commissioners approved up to $1.4 million in incentives for the project, which also is eligible for a $250,000 incentive grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
