Plans filed for office tower at Duke Energy site

Development firm Childress Klein has filed preliminary plans with the city of Charlotte for a 35-story office tower on two acres of land that Duke Energy Corp. purchased last month for $27.5 million. The property, currently used for a surface parking lot, is across the street from Duke’s uptown headquarters. In other developments, the N.C. Utilities Commission has issued an order clearing the way for it to consider Duke Energy Progress’ proposed 14.9% rate increase.
