Raleigh merchants slam WRAL over parade plans

The Board of the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association has a message for WRAL: Don’t broadcast our Christmas Parade. The broadcaster, which had sponsored the GRMA parade for decades, lost the contract this year to rival WTVD, but announced in October it would still televise the event. The GRMA claimed in its letter WRAL had failed to live up to, “certain contractual obligations,” in the past. WRAL vice president and general manager Steve Hammel said there were “inaccuracies” in the GRMA board’s letter.
