Samsung to invest $380M in S.C. plant, add 950 jobs

South Korean electronics company Samsung will invest $380 million in a home-appliance manufacturing facility in Newberry, S.C., that will create 954 new jobs over the next three years. Samsung plans to employ workers in a broad range of advanced manufacturing positions. The new operations, which include research and development, will occupy a former Caterpillar facility. Newberry is nearly 100 miles southwest of Charlotte.
