Biltmore owner William A.V. Cecil dies at 89

William Amherst Vanderbilt Cecil, who turned his family’s estate into a major moneymaking attraction, has died at 89. Cecil, grandson of Biltmore builder, George Washington Vanderbilt III, devoted himself to the preservation of Biltmore and to turning a profit in order to fund that preservation.
