UNC economist forecasts slow state-wide growth

UNC Charlotte economist John Connaughton expects North Carolina’s economy to expand by an inflation-adjusted rate of 2.3% this year. This will be the eighth consecutive year of economic expansion for the state, he says, but the size of that growth has been lacking. Connaughton predicts North Carolina will add 85,200 jobs this year, on par with 2016.
