N.C. State spinout company wins VC backing to develop antimicrobial drugs

Locus Biosciences, which is using new gene editing technology to create drugs that destroy antibiotic-resistance bacteria, has raised $19 million. Artis Ventures led the round, joined by Tencent Holdings Ltd., Abstract Ventures and others. Locus, based in Morrisville, got its start with loans from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.
