U.S. District Court Judge Malcolm Howard has ordered Murphy-Brown LLC, the North Carolina-based subsidiary of Smithfield Foods Inc., to honor an agreement it signed more than a decade ago to clean up water pollution at industrial hog farm sites. The sites, according to environmentalists, are in Bladen, Columbus, Duplin, Pitt, Sampson and Scotland counties.
