Vertex Rail announces temporary layoffs in Wilmington

The rail car manufacturer said it is temporarily reducing its workforce to make physical changes at its 500,000-square-foot plant ahead of filling several large, long-term orders. Vertex did not share current employment figures; the company said it employed 221 people after laying off 61 workers in May 2016.
